Tuncurry Waste Management Centre
Announcement
Due to a fire at Cleanaway's facility in Sydney, all MidCoast Community Recycling Centres and Waste Facilities will pause the collection of chemicals and problem wastes. Please keep problem waste items that cannot be accepted safely stored at home until services return to normal.
As of 17 March 2025, the Tuncurry Waste Management Centre will no longer accept heavy vehicles. All heavy vehicle access will now be directed to the Taree Waste Management Centre. Read more here.
Tuncurry Waste Management Centre accepts most forms of waste not suitable for kerbside collection. JR Richards and Sons and their sub-contractors operate this waste facility.
The centre includes:
- A Community Recycling Centre for problem waste
- Reviva - 'Tip Shop'
- Materials Recovery Facility
- Men's Shed
- Bicycle repair workshop - Green Bikes
- The Green - community garden
The State Government Waste Levy requires a contribution for every tonne of waste we receive at the facility.
Waste loads are weighed on entry, and again on exit, so that you can be charged accurately for the load you are disposing of. Loads that are under 60kg will have a minimum charge and anything above 60kg will be weighed in and out to ensure that you only pay for what you bring to the landfill.
This facility accepts these items free of charge:
- Household recyclable materials
- Problem waste like paint, batteries, electronic waste and scrap metal
- E-waste such as computers, phones, cameras, TVs
- Pre-loved items can be dropped at the Tip Shop such as furniture, tools, toys
This facility accepts these items (fees apply, see below for fees and charges guide):
- Green waste
- Bricks, tiles, concrete,
- Mattresses
- Unsorted waste
See below for fees and more information
