Published on 09 November 2023
For kids, big and small, who have always wanted to see the inside of a garbage truck, now is your chance!
Come and look at the workings of these big machines and join MidCoast Council for a fun day on 15 November at Tuncurry Waste Management Centre Open Day to mark National Recycling Week.
National Recycling Week aims to encourage everyone to reduce, reuse, and recycle with this year’s theme, ‘what goes around, comes around’.
Attendees will have a chance to have their recycling questions answered in person, and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the Community Recycling Centre, the Reviva reuse shop, the Waste Transfer Station, Return and Earn, Green Bikes and the Men’s Shed.
The King and Queen of Green will be there to show everyone how to make positive changes to benefit the planet.
There are free tours and workshops:
• Tours of the Waste Management Centre
• How to grow veggies at home
• How to make beeswax wraps
• Bike repair and maintenance workshop
• How to make a bird box
Register and receive a complimentary reusable cup and free coffee on the day.
What goes in your bin matters! and MidCoast Council Libraries have also joined the celebrations too. Pop in and have a look at the National Recycling Week displays and browse the books. You can also drop by Forster Library on Tuesday 14 November from 10am – 12noon and waste staff will be on hand to answer your recycling questions. While you are there you can pick up a free tote bag and some other goodies.
