Works to replace and repair the damaged picnic shelters, park furniture, planter boxes, pathways and landscaping at Queen Elizabeth Park, Taree are underway.
This project is part of the program to repair and replace infrastructure damaged in the 2021 floods. It is expected to be completed by late February, weather permitting.
In late 2022 Council received a $5.5 million grant from the Regional NSW Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Program to address widespread damage to Council public assets including pontoons, jetties and playgrounds.
$1 million of this grant was allocated for recreation assets along Taree riverside.
The damaged playground at Queen Elizabeth Park has been replaced at nearby Endeavour Reserve, as it has better flood resilience. The new playground was completed in late 2024.
