MidCoast Council is inviting community feedback on the proposal to rezone land at Gloucester from the Environmental Management to Infrastructure zone to allow for the construction of a new sewage treatment plant.
The subject land is located at 84 Showground Road, Gloucester which is immediately south of the existing plant.
If approved, the Infrastructure zone will enable the new plant to be developed, increasing the service for the Gloucester and Barrington communities until at least 2050 and will improve the environmental outcomes for the treatment of sewage.
“This rezoning is about future proofing and is an important development for Gloucester and Barrington communities,” said Rob Scott, MidCoast Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services.

The Gloucester Sewage Treatment Planning Proposal will be open for feedback from Wednesday 25 August to Friday 1 October.
