It’s great news for local theatre lovers, as Taree Arts Council’s Mamma Mia finally prepares to delight audiences at the Manning Entertainment Centre.

Tickets are now available for 14 performances of the beloved musical to take place from 11 to 27 March.

Due to COVID-19, the performances have been postponed several times, with eager patrons waiting since October 2020.

“It has been a roller coaster for the Taree Arts Council with rehearsals cancelled previously due to changing COVID restrictions,” said Mrs Deb Tuckerman, MidCoast Council’s Manager of Growth, Economic Development and Tourism.

“It’s so important that we support our local entertainment industry that’s been hit very hard over the last few years and we are sure that our community will really enjoy the long-awaited Mamma Mia in March.”

Mamma Mia has been a production in the making over the last three years.  It will take audiences to a small Greek Island with a mother, a daughter, three possible dads, and a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget. Mamma Mia is the perfect musical for the whole family and is full of energy and positivity.

The losses resulting from the two postponements of the show were a key factor in Taree Arts Council being successful in receiving a recent grant of $59,000 from Create NSW.

“Taree Arts Council is just one of several producers the MEC staff have assisted to access assistance via the NSW Government, which has been a great way of supporting our local performance industry,” said Mrs Tuckerman.
