Following a well-attended community drop-in session to discuss the Kendall Reserve boat ramp upgrade late last year, the team at MidCoast Council is pleased announce that Royal Haskoning DHV has now finalised the Concept Design Report.
Two concepts were presented to the community for this popular boating facility, the first option was based on retaining and upgrading the existing ramp and surrounding facilities, while the second included the construction of a new two-lane boat ramp at the north-west end of the reserve. While both plans had merit, based on the feedback received, option one has been identified as the preferred choice, with some minor amendments. The preferred option includes the construction of formalised parking for both cars and boat trailers, along with measures to improve the safety of road users in the vicinity of the boat ramp. This option will also maintain the leafy amenity of the western end of the reserve, which residents said they valued for a variety of reasons. MidCoast Council’s Manager for Community Spaces, Recreation & Trades, Dan Aldridge, is pleased with the outcome and will now look to progress the project to the next stage. “Now that we have a preferred concept, we will endeavour to seek funding through the NSW Boating Now Program to implement the proposed improvements,” said Dan.
