Improvements for Wallamba River wharf

The public wharf at the Darawank Memorial Park on the Wallamba River is getting a facelift, with works getting underway from  Monday 4 March.

The popular wharf will receive a $35,000 upgrade, with new deck boards and rails, along with a lick of paint. New features will include a small landing area for boats to moor and access the shore, a fish cleaning table and sealing of the nearby access.

"While the contractor will be able to keep the wharf open for the initial stage of the work, by the end of next week it will be necessary to close the wharf in order to undertake the maintenance and upgrade work," said Council's Manager of Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Dan Aldridge.

The wharf, complete with upgrades, is expected to reopen by Wednesday 17 April, just prior to Easter. The work is being undertaken as part of a Better Boating Now grant funding made available by NSW Roads and Maritime Service.

It's more good news for the many users of the Park, as further works planned include a new toilet block, to be completed by the end of 2019.
