Harrington will soon have a dedicated park for dogs to run off-leash, socialise and exercise, thanks to a NSW Government Stronger Country Communities Fund grant and the Harrington Lions Club.

“Harrington residents have expressed the need for a dedicated dog exercise park, and we’re pleased that we can now provide for this need, thanks to the Stronger Country Communities grant and the Lions Club,” said MidCoast Council’s Manager of Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades, Dan Aldridge.

Kicking off on Monday 19 August, work is expected to take around a month, weather permitting.

Part of the reserve at Dolphin Park Crescent will be fenced with a self-closing gate, and the off-leash area will be provided with bags and bins along with a dog drinking station. The Harrington Lions Club will provide seating throughout the area.

An informal car parking area is included in the plan.

And coming soon, Harrington residents and visitors will benefit from upgraded barbecue facilities on the foreshore, with the team currently finalising quotations and developing designs. The barbecues are being provided thanks to the same NSW Stronger Country Communities funding, which was secured with support from Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams.
