Elected representatives of the community, Councillors, come together to represent the views of the community and make strategic decisions on behalf of the community.
They are responsible for ensuring the Council operates in accordance with legislation, is financially responsible and delivering to the needs of the community within the means of the budget.
They meet regularly to make determinations on matters that impact on you and your community.
Following each meeting we provide a snapshot of the decisions that are made and the information that is tabled.

Mayoral Minute
Mayor Claire Pontin provided a Mayoral minute that thanked and farewelled the five Councillors stepping down and not seeking re-election including Katheryn Bell (16 years service), Peter Epov (12 years service), Katheryn Stinson (16 years service), David West (29 years service) and Troy Fowler (7 years service).
Dual occupancy 12 Scarfe Street, Smiths Lake
This development application was approved by Councillors subject to conditions. It proposed a 25 percent variation to the maximum height standard. Both of the proposed dwellings within the application contained four bedrooms and a single car garage. The dwellings present as a single storey from the street but are stepped down to include three storeys in all.
Temporary delegation to the General Manager of policy making functions
Councillors voted to give the General Manager the authority to exercise policy making functions of the governing body, if and when necessary, between 14 September and 9 October 2024.
The NSW Local Government elections take place on September 14, with the Mayor officially stepping down from her position on the previous day, September 13.
Following the Mayoral election at the first meeting on 9 October the delegation will revert back to the elected Mayor.
Financial statements for the year ended 30 June 2024
Draft financial statements will be referred to the NSW Audit Office following the Councillors vote on Wednesday.
The net operating result for the year showed Council was in a surplus for general, water and sewer.
The net operating result before capital grants and contributions also showed surpluses for water and sewer but a deficit for the general fund.
The audit of the draft statements will start on 9 September. The audited statements will then be placed on public exhibition following which the auditors will present the independent report to Council.
