Black Head Beach & Ocean Baths

Black Head Beach is 1.6 km long running in a gentle east-facing arc between Redhead and Blackhead and is regarded as one of the best swimming beaches in the Manning Valley. It features large shady Norfolk Island pines, an ocean pool, picnic areas, and bbq's. The beach is patrolled during the swimming season (October to April) by both professional life guards during school holidays and by volunteer surf life savers from Blackhead Surf Life Saving Club on weekends and public holidays.

A rock pool is also located on the Black Head rock platform. It is backed by a single foredune with a creek running out across the southern end of the beach. There is a picnic area along the creek banks with additional parking around the Black Head SLSC and on the headland. A small lagoon and creek drain across the southern corner with two footbridges crossing the lagoon to the beach.

Ocean Baths

The Ocean Baths comprises of a 30m pool and children swimming area. While entry to this combination children’s pool and training pool is pool is free, the Black Head Pool Maintenance Committee accepts donations via a donation box.

This area is fantastic for weddings and the local schools utilising the baths for swimming lessons.

Ocean baths cleaning schedule:

Blackhead Pool is cleaned on a Thursday from 11am till 6pm;

Winter (approx. Easter till start Oct) - Every Fortnight

Summer (approx. 1 Oct -Easter) - Every week.
