It’s great news for the kids and kids at heart in Harrington, with a new playground due to be installed in Gordon Smith Reserve by the end of July.
The new playground is a joint initiative of Harrington Lions Club and MidCoast Council, and provides a contemporary play space right in the heart of Harrington village. MidCoast Council crews will start preparatory works this week, including clearing the area to make way for the new playground.
“This is an exciting project for the local community, providing a new facility that will be welcomed by local families and the many visitors to the area over the peak summer season”, explained Dan Aldridge, MidCoast Council’s Manager, Community Spaces, Recreation and Trades.
Construction of the playground area will be undertaken over the next few weeks, with installation of the equipment taking place over two weeks from mid-July. The playground is due to be open to the public at the end of July.
“Our crews will be on-site during this time, and while we’re sure local interest will be high, it’s important people stay out of the fenced-off area while the installation is undertaken”, Dan added.
