It’s great news for locals as Summerfest, one of the region’s most exciting youth music events, returns for another year with a stellar line-up in a safe and secure environment.

Following three successful Live n Loud events at the library throughout the year, anticipation is high for Summerfest 2018.

There will be some familiar faces in the support act this year as previous MYAT members and Live n Loud participants return to their old stomping ground with their band, The Small Press.

And in a coup for the MidCoast, headline act The Kava Kings is generating plenty of talk and excitement as they plan a return to the region for the first time since 2017’s Wingham Akoostik Festival.

This unique, outdoor live music event has been planned and run by local young people since its inception and now in its eighth year, continues to grow in popularity as an event on the MidCoast calendar not to be missed.

From the organisation and marketing to the production and performances, everything is the responsibility of the Manning Youth Action & Interact Team (MYAIT), who are supported by MidCoast Council’s Community Strengthening Officer - Youth, Russell Ingram and with funding assistance from Indent NSW.

“With a mixture of amateur, semi-professional and professional bands in the line-up, Summerfest is a great mix of talent and a good opportunity for some bands to play on a larger stage, to a wider audience,” said Russell.

“Every year Summerfest gets better and it’s sure to be a great night of entertainment for the wider community, not just our youth, to enjoy.”

Summerfest will take place on Saturday, 1 December at Harry Bennett Park in Taree and is a fully-supervised drug and alcohol free event for all ages.

Gates open at 4pm with entertainment continuing through to 8pm.

While tickets are available at the gate, purchase online ahead of time and you’ll go in the draw to win a prize generously donated by Bass n Blues music store. For online tickets, visit https://summerfest-taree.eventbrite.com.au
