A group of Tuncurry business owners is behind a community-driven push to transform Tuncurry's main centre in just 7 days, using people power, a seemingly impossibly short time frame and very limited budget. The exciting event is supported by MidCoast Council's Vibrant Spaces initiative, and is a whole-of-community event, with volunteers welcomed.

The team is in the planning stage now, with the 7 day makeover dates set for Saturday 22 - Saturday 29 June 2019.

If you'd like to know more, or think you can assist or get involved, you're welcome to come along to the info night, on Tuesday 28 May from 6.30pm - 8pm at the Bellevue Hotel. For more information and to register to attend the info night, visit www.7day.com.au.

Master Placemaker David Engwicht, from Creative Communities International, has been helping towns around the world transform tired, used and under-appreciated public spaces into vibrant community hubs. And now it's Tuncurry's turn!

At the information night, David will explain what's involved and how the 7 day makeover works, and teach us how to create great public spaces on a shoestring budget with instant results.

"We're excited to see this community initiative unfold," said Council's Manager of Growth, Economic Development and Tourism, Deb Tuckerman.

"We're supporting the Tuncurry businesses who've got behind the project, and we're encouraging any interested community members to also get involved."

"Bring your ideas, expertise and offers of support along to the information night and register to volunteer during the 7 day makeover event to make the plans a reality and transform Tuncurry's business area."
