Go green when you clean, by joining a free workshop where you’ll learn how to make your own safe, environmentally friendly and effective home cleaning products.

As our lives become busier, it can be all too easy to buy those brightly coloured chemical cleaning products that promise to clean your home in a jiffy, but sometimes we forget to stop and think what’s actually in them. By joining this eco-cleaning workshop you’ll be challenged to reduce these harsh chemicals in your home and opt for a greener solution.

Local householders are encouraged to come along and learn something new when the workshop takes place in Wingham early next month.

“We’ll be showing participants how to use a range of natural and easily accessible ingredients like lemons, tea tree oil, vinegar and baking soda to make essential home cleaning products like shower and toilet cleaner,” said Amy Hill, MidCoast Council’s Waste Program Coordinator.

“Making these changes to your cleaning routine is not only better for the environment, it means you’re not exposing yourself, your family and your pets to harsh chemicals around the house,” added Amy.

Home-made cleaning products are also friendlier on the household budget, and reduce the amount of plastic packaging that ends up in our waste stream.

This free workshop will be held on Thursday 6 February from 10.30am to 12pm at Wingham Library.  Reserve your place now by visiting www.midcoastlibraries.com.au/events, but hurry as places are limited!

The free Eco-Cleaning workshop is presented in partnership with MidWaste Regional Waste Forum.
