Build Resilience

Be The Ball

Resilience is the ability to recover quickly from difficulties, or in other words, the art of bouncing back from the tough stuff!

Dealing with the difficulties that life throws at us can sometimes leave us feeling a little flat.

If you find yourself in this situation give some of these strategies a go:

Acknowledge your achievements!

By thinking about the rad stuff you’ve accomplished you can build belief in yourself for future achievements. It’s also really great for self talk (see next point!)

Check your thoughts!

When experiencing difficulty it’s pretty common to have negative thoughts about who we are and what we can achieve. If you’re feeling flat take a moment to consider what you’re telling yourself – if it’s mainly negative then think of ways to override those thoughts with positive ones (a good place to start could be the point above!).

Connect!

A common trait of resilient people is being OK with talking to others about what is going on and how you’re feeling – this can help you in moving on from the situation.

If you’re still feeling flat after trying these tips then we’d encourage you to speak to a Teacher, School Counsellor, GP or a trusted adult about what’s going on for you.  There are also a variety of online resources and support that can assist you. These include:
