What is public art?

Public art is any artwork that's created to be enjoyed by the public. This can include sculptures, murals, sound installations, and more. It can be something that's there permanently or just for a little while.

We have a Public Art Policy and guidelines that helps guide public art initiatives in the area. The guidelines make sure that the art is high quality and safe for everyone to enjoy. They also help decide where the art should go and oversee the process of removing it if needed.

Submitting a public art proposal

If you're looking to create some new public art in the MidCoast region, please review our Public Art Guidelines. Each artwork and site will be unique and this means that the amount of planning and community engagement needed will vary depending on the project. We're here to guide the community through the process of creating public art that everyone can enjoy.
